“We are not a monolithic people. Our thoughts on humanity are mostly informed from the lens in which we view the world. Every pocket of the city of Chicago has a unique perspective. It is from these different vantage points that influence our thoughts, and moreover, our art. So, in thinking of the human body and how it’s represented through art, there is a vast spectrum of figurative work based on our interpretation of not only the body, but the human experience.
In this exhibit I want to explore these different vantage points through various mediums; mixed medium, sculpture, painting and photography. It will give a glimpse of every perspective with both stark contrast and subtle commonalities. Visually, the exhibit will tell the story of community and subcultures, revealing layers of worlds yet to be explored. Sometimes these undiscovered worlds are a million miles away, and often just a few blocks over.” – Artist and Curator, Paul Branton
