The Beverly Arts Center is thrilled to announce its latest production, “1619: The Journey of a People,” a multi-disciplinary theater experience commemorating the 400th anniversary of the arrival of the first enslaved Africans in America. This poignant production will run on February 15th at 3pm and February 16th at 4pm.
“1619: The Journey of a People” takes audiences on an evocative journey through history, portrayed by three modern characters who navigate a series of compelling performance pieces. This dynamic cast of singers, actors, spoken word artists, and dancers explores the profound legacy of America’s African descendants, reflecting on the past while addressing critical contemporary social issues.
Audiences of all ages will find themselves inspired and challenged as they witness the resilience and triumphs of America’s African sons and daughters.
