SUMMARY:All These Words Are - POSTPONED: SATURDAY\, FEBRUARY 7th\, 2pm-5pm
DESCRIPTION:Nat Soti \nAll These Words Are \nBeverly Arts Center \nJanuary 23rd – February 22nd \nNEW OPENING DATE: SATURDAY\, FEBRUARY 7th\, 2pm-5pm \nAll These Words Are is an exhibition by Nat Soti that explores visual language and world-building at the intersection of art and graphic design. Drawing from an evolving dictionary of personal graphic symbols without pre-defined or fixed meanings\, Soti examines how meaning and expression emerge through use\, composition\, and context. As symbols appear and reappear across digital prints\, mixed-media works\, painting\, drawing\, collage\, video\, and motion graphics\, meaning is allowed to emerge rather than be dictated. \nIn a time where our culture constantly demands talking points\, hot takes\, and personal declarations\, All These Words Are reflects a state of “work-in-progress being.” The exhibition invites you to pause before certainty and embrace curiosity\, reflection\, and the ongoing process of finding connection and meaning for yourselves.

SUMMARY:The Grateful String Band
DESCRIPTION:The Grateful String Band\nFriday\, October 24th @ 7:30pm \n$32 Member \n$35 Non-member \n\n      In a crowded landscape of Grateful Dead cover bands\, it takes more than tie-dyes and long jams to stand out. Enter The Grateful String Band — a crew of talented pickers who aren’t just revisiting the classics; they’re reimagining them with acoustic soul and string-fueled fire. But make no mistake\, this isn’t a tribute band. TGSB doesn’t try to replicate the Dead’s shows\, sound\, or stage presence. Instead\, they reinterpret songs from the vast catalog of the Grateful Dead\, their side projects\, and even the traditional tunes the Dead themselves covered\, all through the lens of high-octane bluegrass.\n\n\n\n     Featuring Kris Nowak on acoustic guitar\, Steve Haberichter on mandolin\, Garrett Degnan on upright bass and Pete Smith on banjo\, The Grateful String Band explore every corner of the Dead’s musical universe from fan favorites to deep cuts\, from Pigpen’s raw blues to Jerry’s spacey ballads\, all delivered with foot-stomping energy and reverence for the source. And the journey doesn’t stop with the Dead. TGSB follows the thread through Old & In the Way\, the Jerry Garcia Band\, and wherever that musical spirit may wander. If the Dead played it\, jammed on it\, or simply loved it\, TGSB is ready to break it down\, grass it up\, and send it racing through a mandolin at blazing speed.\n\n\nSo if you’re searching for the sweet spot where psychedelic rock meets Appalachian roots- where Garcia meets grassy- you’ve landed in the right place. The Grateful String Band — your go to source for high-energy\, heartfelt\, and joyfully offbeat Deadgrass.\n\nPURCHASE TICKETS HERE

DESCRIPTION:Beetlejuice\, Jr. \nThursday\, October 16th\, 2025 \nFriday\, October 17th\, 2025 \nSaturday\, October 18th\, 2025 \nSunday\, October 19th\, 2025 \n$15 – Non-member \n$13 – Member \nIt’s our show now\, kid. The ghost-with-the-most comes to the stage in Beetlejuice JR.\, the frightfully funny musical based on the beloved motion picture turned Broadway phenomenon. Lydia Deetz is a strange and unusual teenager\, still grieving the loss of her mother and obsessed with the whole “being dead thing.” Lucky for Lydia\, she and her father move to a new house haunted by a recently deceased couple and Beetlejuice\, a delightful demon with a real zest for life. When Lydia calls on Beetlejuice to scare away anyone with a pulse\, this double-crossing specter shows his true stripes\, unleashing a (Nether) world of pandemonium. \nWith music and lyrics by Tony Award-nominee Eddie Perfect and a book by Tony Award-nominated pair Anthony King and Scott Brown\, Beetlejuice was nominated for eight 2019 Tony Awards including Best New Musical. A viral “sucks-yes” on social media\, this musical struck a chord with young theatre lovers who adored its unabashed humor and emotional honesty.  \nCreated for the generation that made it a hit\, Beetlejuice JR. is a wacky theatrical party for all! DESCRIPTION:The Crucible\nOPENS: Thursday\, September 18th @ 7:30pm \nFriday\, September 19th @ 7:30pm \nSaturday\, September 20th @ 3:00pm \nSunday\, September 21st @ 3:00pm \n$25 Non-members \n$22 Members \n$15 Students \nWritten as a response to McCarthyism (the censorship and blacklisting of American artists labeled “Communist” by Senator McCarthy and his followers)\, Arthur Miller’s 1953 drama brings the story of the Salem witch trials to life. By creating fictionalized versions of the real accusers and victims of the trials\, Miller demonstrates the dangers of “witch hunting” and the political persecution of many to serve a few.  \nThe name of the play alludes to two of the definitions of the world crucible: “A severe test\,” “a situation in which concentrated forces interact to cause change.” \nA brief synopsis: The town of Salem collapses in hysteria when a group of teenage girls\, led by Abigail Williams\, accuse their neighbors of witchcraft. When Abigail is spurned by her former employer (and lover) John Proctor\, she targets both him and his wife. John is left with a choice: falsely confess and live\, or be condemned to death. \nPURCHASE TICKETS HERE

SUMMARY:RE-BOP! Obstructions and Disruptions
DESCRIPTION:RE-BOP! Obstructions and Disruptions\nCurators Todd Bartel and Paloma Trecka invited 60 artists from around the globe to create collages that embrace the unexpected through visual\, rhythmic\, emotional\, or conceptual disruptions. \nRe-Bop! is the third iteration of Bop!\, the celebrated collage exhibition series originally conceived by artist Tony Fitzpatrick\, that showcases the parallel ideas of flow in both music and collage—where intuition\, playful abandon\, and spur-of-the-moment change and happenstance are embraced with artistic fervor and verve. Re-Bop! looks at the notion of unexpected\, disrupted\, and obstructed collage-making. \nMusical guest: saxophonist\, improviser and composer\, Mai Sugimoto. Sugimoto draws inspiration from her upbringing in Japan and her roots in jazz to compose and perform from her unique multicultural experience. \nFriday\, July 11\, 2025\, 6-8pm at the Simmerling Gallery of the Beverly Art Center.

Two young men become friends: Hugo\, a\nmusician from a privileged family\, tries psychoanalysis with Sigmund Freud\, while Adolf\, a struggling artist obsessed with vegetarianism\, falls in love with German nationalism.\n\nV13 Trailer\n\n  \nDIRECTOR’S STATEMENT \nI wrote the screenplay for V13 based on a play by the renowned French psychoanalyst and writer Alain Didier-Weill. Researching and reflecting on the rise of extreme German nationalism in Vienna before WWI and how it gave rise to the ideology of Nazism after were lifelong pursuits of Didier-Weill. He was himself analyzed by Jacques Lacan\, the controversial French psychoanalyst who was one of the most important intellectual figures of the 20th century. \nThe roots of his interest\, no doubt\, go back to the experiences of his own Jewish family during the occupation of France but also to his conviction that it was important for all of humanity to examine the roots of the Nazi ideology—just as Freud had felt psychoanalysis was important for all of humanity. \nFilmed overtly in New York City\, V13 raises unsettling questions about the relation between this moment in the past and the rise of ethnonationalism in the present. — Richard C.
