SUMMARY:Great Moments in Vinyl - Tribute to Prince -- 2024
DESCRIPTION:Great Moments in Vinyl – Tribute to Prince — 2024\nSaturday\, February 10\, 2024\, 7:30 pm \nIn the winter of 1980\, fans of The Midnight Special didn’t know what hit them when a performer they’d never heard of went strutting across their TV screens wearing bikini pants\, thigh-high boots\, and a guitar slung casually over his shoulder. He moved confidently to the beat. He sang in a clear falsetto. His outfit was electrifyingly androgynous. And his name was Prince. \nFew artists have presented themselves as fully formed as this multi-talented musician from Minneapolis. But Prince knew what to offer and where he wanted to go. Starting from a debut album on which he played all the instruments\, he went on to scale the pop charts\, break down racial barriers\, stir up controversy\, offer his Midas touch to countless other artists\, earn himself millions\, and shake a lot of booty. And though the movie Purple Rain and its hugely successful soundtrack album may feel like the pinnacle of his career\, Prince never stopped making music until his passing in the spring of 2016. \nJoin Great Moments in Vinyl as we pay tribute to Prince with a concert of hits and highlights from throughout his inimitable career…accompanied by stories of his remarkable achievements and exploits. This time around\, Great Moments in Vinyl features vocalist Eric Tre’von with Clarence Williams and Greg Woods on keyboards\, Aaron Weistrop on guitar\, Jonathan Reed on drums\, and William Lindsey Cochran playing bass and telling the stories. \nPURCHASE TICKETS HERE

SUMMARY:Young Chicago Authors - Rooted & Radical Poetry Festival
DESCRIPTION:Young Chicago Authors – Rooted & Radical Poetry Festival \nSaturday\, February 17\, 2024 \nPrepare for an extraordinary youth voice celebration at the third annual Rooted and Radical Youth Poetry Festival\, presented by Young Chicago Authors! Some 500 talented youth poets from 60+ Chicagoland schools will take part in an immersive\, four-week extravaganza filled with poetry bouts\, engaging workshops\, and special events. The Beverly Arts Center is pleased to host the first three preliminary bouts of the festival on Saturday\, February 17\, from 10 am to 6 pm. \nFormerly known as Louder Than A Bomb\, the poetry festival has undergone a creative transformation. It rethinks scoring and judging\, shifting the focus to empower participants and rediscover the essence of creating a community for young people to share their stories on a non-competitive stage/ Young poets will use their voices to celebrate one another through a student voting system. This year’s theme\, “Joy!\,” draws inspiration from Ross Gay’s powerful quote: “Joy is the mostly invisible\, the underground union between us\, you and me\, which is\, among other things\, the great fact of our life and the lives of everyone.” \nJoin us in fostering a space where joy becomes a shared experience\, stories intertwine\, and the heartbeat of a united community echoes through the power of spoken word. This festival is not just an event; it’s a movement towards amplifying the voices of our youth and celebrating the profound connection found in joy. \nSaturday\, February 17\, 2024 at the Beverly Arts Center. SUMMARY:Marrakesh Express ~ a Crosby\, Stills\, Nash & Young experience
DESCRIPTION:Marrakesh Express ~ a Crosby\, Stills\, Nash & Young experience\nSaturday\, April 13th\, 2024 – 8:00pm\nCost: $30 \nA band dedicated to tributing CSNY is unheard of due to the difficulty in replicating the 3- and 4-part vocal harmonies that made the group international superstars. Marrakesh Express excels at reproducing their complex songs and cascading\, layered harmonies. The band takes the audience back to the late 1960s with musicians who bring an authentic hippie vibe and visual to the stage. For a time\, CSNY was arguably the biggest band in the world after the demise of the Beatles and is one of the most enduring and influential musical groups of all time. The band\, born in the turbulent years of the late 1960s\, released hit after hit that spoke directly for their generation. Their songs remain in heavy rotation on classic rock radio stations to this day. Marrakesh Express upholds the integrity of that music with its vivid and realistic performance of CSNY’s most recognizable songs. Featuring four harmonizing vocalists backed by a top-flight band\, they deliver a unique and energetic concert performing the classic acoustic and electric CSNY hits\, deep cuts\, and fan favorites. Marrakesh Express has played to tens of thousands of appreciative fans at music festivals\, theaters\, fairs\, performing arts centers\, and casinos\, including headlining the Woodstock 40th Anniversary Tribute Concert. The music of CSNY has stood the test of time\, and fans of the classic rockers\, as well as young people who are curious about “the 60s\,” are anxious to venture out to hear it represented live. \nPURCHASE TICKETS HERE

SUMMARY:A Rock ‘n’ Roll Tribute—From Elvis to the Beatles—Featuring The Neverly Brothers
DESCRIPTION:A Rock ‘n’ Roll Tribute—From Elvis to the Beatles—Featuring The Neverly Brothers\n20th ANNIVERSARY TOUR\nSaturday\, May 4\, 7:30 PM\nCost: $32 \nThe Neverly Brothers take you on a guided musical tour of the birth\, near death and resurrection of rock ‘n’ roll from 1955 to 1965. You’ll learn rock history and be thoroughly entertained with their chronological song sequence\, stories behind the music and vintage wardrobe changes. Their energetic stage show consists of show-stopping renditions of early hits by Jerry Lee Lewis\, Chuck Berry\, Buddy Holly\, The Beatles\, Rolling Stones\, and more! \nThe first half of the concert pays tribute to the music created by the 1950s American Rock ‘n’ Roll pioneers—which by 1960 had become a distant memory but became the inspiration for the next wave of young rock bands from Britain. The second half focuses on the 1964 British Invasion. These are the bands that re-recorded the forgotten 1950s American rock music\, along with lesser known early 1960s rhythm & blues songs; recorded their own original songs; and pulled Rock ‘n’ Roll from the edge of extinction by re-inventing and re-energizing it for a new generation. \nEnjoy spirited performances of classics like Great Balls of Fire\, Johnny B. Goode\, Wake Up Little Susie\, Summertime Blues\, That’ll Be the Day\, Twist & Shout\, Roll Over Beethoven\, Satisfaction\, You Really Got Me\, Love Potion #9\, and many more! \nIt‘s not “moldy oldies”—it’s “old-school cool!” So hop aboard our virtual tour bus and fasten your seatbelts for an exciting MAGICAL HISTORY TOUR! \nPURCHASE TICKETS HERE
