SUMMARY:Put the Nuns in Charge!
DESCRIPTION:Put the Nuns in Charge!\nLaugh at this take on Modern Sins in a Modern World\nMay 16th 7:00pm \nNon-Members – $35 \nMembers – $32 \nHit comedy\, Put the Nuns in Charge!\nComes to the Beverly Arts Center \nOne night only \nVicki Quade\, who has made a career creating funny\, respectful religious comedies\, brings another hit comedy to the South Side. \nPut the Nuns in Charge! will be performed one night only at the Beverly\nArts Center on Saturday\, May 16\, 2026. The show starts at 7 p.m.\nThe show originally opened in Chicago in 2005 and has now celebrated 20 years entertaining audiences. \n“I love exploring how religion blends with our everyday lives\,” Quade says. “So this show looks at modern sins and how we treat each other\, It’s especially current given that Pope Leo XVI is from Chicago and cares deeply about the same topic.” \nThe Chicago Tribune calls the show “sharp\, funny\, and richly humane.” The Daily Southtown says Put the Nuns in Charge! Is “a funny and nostalgic romp\, a wonderful reminder of Catholic life during a simpler\, more disciplined time.” \nThe show pokes fun at everything from celebrities to revealing clothing\, driving habits\, social media\, and cell phone use — for starters. \nHowever\, this is no one-woman show. Audience members will find themselves once more in a classroom\, taking an active role in the evening’s lesson. The show is part stand-up comedy\, and part catechism class. \n“It was easy coming up with the material\,” Quade added. “I based the play on the ‘Seven Deadly Sins\,’ and just by picking up a newspaper\, you find lots of examples.” \nPURCHASE TICKETS HERE

SUMMARY:Ragtime
DESCRIPTION:Ragtime\nAugust 2026\nOPENING: Thursday\, August 27th @ 7:30pm  \nFriday\, August 28th @ 7:30pm \nSaturday\, August 29th @ 3:00pm \nSunday\, August 30th @ 3:00pm \n$50 – Non-members  \n$45 – Members  \nRagtime is the 1998 musical that tells the story of three American communities faced with change and redefining the American dream. The story has three protagonists and three ensembles: Mother\, a wealthy WASP living in the all-white New Rochelle\, Tateh\, a Jewish immigrant trying to find his footing and provide for his daughter in the Lower East Side\, and Coalhouse Walker\, Jr.\, a black Harlem musician-turned-activist when racist attacks damage his community. Though separate communities\, their stories interweave through encounters with American history makers\, including Booker T. Washington\, Henry Ford\, Harry Houdini\, and more. As the story reaches its conclusion\, the protagonists learn that the real “American dream” is bringing communities together\, not keeping them apart.  \nPURCHASE TICKETS HERE
